These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of CodeForge, the hosted code-generation platform available at code-forge.net (the “Service”), operated by the makers of The Codegen Project (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By signing in or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
CodeForge connects to a source specification you provide (such as an OpenAPI or AsyncAPI document), which you may supply directly or by connecting a GitHub repository we read it from, generates client SDKs from it, versions them, and can publish them to a package registry on your behalf. The open-source command-line tool that powers generation is available separately under its own license and can be run without an account.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. The Service is provided on an ongoing best-effort basis and is currently offered without any uptime or availability guarantee.
You sign in using GitHub authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the GitHub account you use to access the Service and for all activity that occurs under your CodeForge account. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law, or to build or operate a product that competes directly with the Service by reselling its generation output as a hosted service.
Your first SDK is free. Each additional SDK slot is billed at $29 per SDK per month, as described on our pricing page. An “SDK” is one generation entity (one specification and target language pair). Enterprise arrangements are available by contacting us.
Paid subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. By subscribing you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your chosen payment method for recurring fees until you cancel. Fees are billed in advance and, except where required by law, are non-refundable. Adding a slot mid-cycle prorates the remainder of that cycle.
You may cancel at any time from your platform profile. Cancellation stops future renewals; you retain access to paid SDKs through the end of the current billing period, after which affected SDKs become read-only. We may change pricing on a prospective basis with reasonable notice.
To connect a repository, you provide a GitHub access token and authorize the Service to use it to list your repositories and read their contents in order to obtain the specifications you generate from. The Service only reads from your repositories and does not write to them. You control the scope of the token and are responsible for ensuring it grants no more access than necessary.
To publish generated SDKs, you provide a package registry (npm) access token and authorize the Service to use it to publish packages on your behalf to the registry and package name you configure. You are solely responsible for the scope of that token, for the package names you target, and for any packages published using your token. You represent that you have the right to publish to the configured package and that doing so does not violate the registry’s terms or any third party’s rights.
You can revoke either token at any time, which will prevent the Service from making any further use of it.
“Your Content” means the specifications, configuration, tokens, and other material you provide to the Service. You retain all rights to Your Content. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and transform Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you, including generating and publishing SDKs at your direction.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to submit Your Content and that it does not infringe any third party’s rights or violate applicable law.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us an unrestricted right to use them to improve the Service, and you understand that feedback submitted through the platform may be published publicly, for example as an issue in our public GitHub repository. Please do not include confidential information in feedback.
As between you and us, the SDK code generated from Your Content is yours. We claim no ownership over the generated output and impose no additional license restrictions on it beyond those in these Terms. Note that generated output may incorporate or depend on open-source components carrying their own licenses, which you are responsible for complying with.
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with its operation, circumventing usage limits or billing, publishing malware or unlawful content, or using the Service to violate the rights of others. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
The Service integrates with third parties including GitHub (authentication and repository access), npm (package publishing), and Stripe (payments). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that generated SDKs will be error-free, that publishing will always succeed, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or secure.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us in the three months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of Denmark will have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where mandatory consumer-protection law entitles you to bring proceedings elsewhere.
